Love Notes Chorus, Austin’s first Alzheimer’s choir, provides people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, their care partners, and volunteers, a place to sing, belong, and have purpose.

 

Under the umbrella of Music Memories Austin, (a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to bringing musical workshops to those in retirement homes, respite care programs and Alzheimer’s facilities) and in an effort to reach more people affected by memory loss, Edie Elkjer and Susie Higley, co-creators of Music Memories Austin, launched Love Notes Chorus in September of 2019 with 27 choir members implementing the ideal ratio recommended by Giving Voice, a leader in the world of Alzheimer’s Choirs, consisiting of one-third persons with varying stages of Alzheimer’s, one-third caregivers, and one-third volunteers.

We are reaching out to people like you, as well as to businesses and corporations for funding in an effort to advance a worldwide movement that helps people with Alzheimer’s and their care partners live better lives and benefit their communities through singing together.
